The lake is constituted by a vast water expand used essentially in water supply for the Canal du Midi. The breakwater has been constructed in the 17th century by Pierre Paul Riquet and therefore became the first barrage of Europe.

The Revel- Belloc's flying club organizes first flights .The Model
Club produces Model Aircraft making demonstrations.
The St Férréol 's lake offers all the water sports : canoes,
yatch, , pedalos, ( except for motor-boards).During July and August a swimming instructor supervises the bathing. The lake is surrounded by an English type park where walking and picnics are possible.
Horse riding can be done in many equestrian centers.
A recreation center organizes different sporting sessions or daily animations: mountain bike, climbing, speleology, hiking, sailsurf, sailing dinghy and tennis. The Montagne Noire's center welcomes trainees for gliding formation.
The region has 1st and 2nd class fishing possibilities
in lakes or rivers.
In Revel, St Férréol and the neighboring towns many activities are organized all along summer: exhibition-fairs, second hand markets, attic selling, funfairs, local dance and fireworks
